Started using AVG Free Edition two days ago - brilliant. Used to use it years ago but with more mebers of the house on the www I paid for a full suite with THE main name. Had a host of trajans this week which that suite didn't find.

AVG found it and more.

Now I've received an e-mail with the message body "Download AVG Protection" which within it contains a link to upgrade to AVG Anti-Virus 2009. Is this genuine?

Yes. If I scroll across the sender's e-mail address the properties show that the mail originated from "clientservice@gmail.com".

Have had another today entitled "The Most Trusted Antivirus Online", same origin. How come if these are spyware they are getting through to my inbox without AVG detecting them?
